Life with 2 boys is hard.

Ohmygosh there's going to be 3 soon!

Okay. Wilson is 4 1/2. Luke is 2 1/2. They have gotten to the age where they finally play together which in turn means that they are fighting. I'm glad that they can play together and enjoy each other but oh my gosh! I hate when they fight. This morning they were "playing" Don't Spill the Beans. But Wilson had a different idea of how he wanted to play than Luke. Fighting ensued. Beans everywhere. Timeout for both. Start over with trying to get them to clean-up. They come out and start cleaning up and next thing I know Wilson is squeezing Luke's chin and then Luke hits Wilson. AHHH! What do I do? Time-out didn't seem to work for more than 2 minutes. They even had a spanking this morning. Andy and I feel like all we do is tell them not to do this or that. I want them to have fun and make their own choices but they don't make good choices! I can't leave them in a room together alone for more than a minute before something happens. Not always physical fighting but picking on each other or something. This is hard! It's like one day you feel like you're doing okay at this whole parenting thing and the next day you think you don't know how to do this at all. Am I doing something wrong? How can I make it better? It's summer so our schedule isn't the same everyday but I don't know if that is why. Help! Is this what my life is going to be like for the next 15 years?

My Momma

My mom had surgery yesterday on her knee. She had a tear in her meniscus. My mom is a trooper! She squeezed this in after keeping the girls for the two weeks Cara and Jason were in China. She had the girls until 10:30 Wednesday night, went to the airport with them to meet Silas, woke up bright and early on Thursday to clean her house from keeping the girls and at 8 AM that morning went to her surgery appointment. Meanwhile my dad was getting ready to drive Cara & Co. to Minneapolis for Jason's sister's wedding this weekend. We wanted them to arrive safely to MN after 24+ hours of travelling home from China. So mom was flying solo. Her parents took her to her surgery and brought her home and took care of her. I came over when they got home to visit and check on her. Then Terry came over and spent the night with her so she could have help. Terry and Ma-Maw were with her today at home. My dad flies home tonight, leaving Cara & Co. at the wedding. We're hoping they'll be enough rested to make the trip home on their own on Sun/Mon! I went over to visit today and am bringing dinner to her, dad, and Terry tonight. (Chicken Quesadillas, corn on the cob, and chips/salsa). Mom is doing really well- she is able to walk around carefully with her crutches, putting just a little weight on the bad leg. She even walked out of the house yesterday to take a ride in the new van! She is exercising her leg per dr. orders and icing it as well. Hopefully this will repair her knee so she doesn't have so much trouble with it anymore! Love you, mom!

We have good news!

Thank goodness, some things have worked out for the good as of yesterday! I do not have gestational diabetes. Yea! And...

Hello mini-van!

Welcome Home, Silas Charles Tuan!

Silas was ready to meet his sisters right away! No warming up necessary- he just held their hands and walked around with them for several minutes.


He talked on Skype with my parents every night- I think this helped him recognize them. He even let my mom hold him for a few minutes!
They arrived home last night around 10:30 once they unloaded the plane. There was a big crowd waiting to meet them at the airport. Silas is absolutely precious. I can't believe he is already home!

My MK prize!

I started selling Mary Kay back in April or May, just a little bit on the side. For my first quarter in the business I sold enough product to earn a prize. MK is all about prizes. I've gotten several small prizes but this is the big one. I was able to choose based on my sales level what we wanted. I picked a Cuisinart Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker. It came in the mail this week. Wilson was SO excited! It has 3 separate compartments for mix-ins so we have chocolate chips, mini reeces pieces, and sprinkles in them. Last night we made our first batch of icecream- vanilla (dyed blue). It was very creamy and delicious! The ice cream maker can make soft serve icecream or sorbet. Looking forward to trying another recipe!

Why can't we get a break???

That's how we feel.
After our delicious dinner last night Andy and I ran over to Toyota to test drive a mini-van since we were kid free. We drove it for 10-15 minutes and checked out what they had to offer. They told us we could come back today and take one off the lot on loan to put the car seats in and try it out as a family. So today we did just that. We had the car for about 4 hours. We really liked it and Andy knew exactly what we could afford. So we went back after dinner, gave them our bottom line and waited. Listened to at least 3 different deals that never matched up to our bottom line so we walked out politely. They wouldn't come down enough. They also informed us that the previous owners of our Jetta had a fender bender and didn't tell us. We had no clue. Apparently the front bumper had been replaced after a minor accident so they weren't offering us much for our trade in. We would have actually still OWED $15 on our Jetta. Please! As we were leaving the nice sales rep said "do you want to drive the van home tonight?" I said no, we can't afford it so I don't want to drive it to just bring it back AGAIN. So needless to say we were frustrated about them not coming down enough AND finding out the Jetta had a minor wreck that the sellers did not disclose.
This morning I had to spend 3 1/2 hours at the OB. It. was. so. boring. I don't know the results yet. I finished my book and read a couple magazines. I was pricked 4 times. Took 2 walks, 1 being up to the maternity floor of the hospital to see if there were any babies. Hopefully I'll be gestational diabetes free!
We're still upset about the house falling through. That's why I chose this title. We'll just have a little pity party before we go to bed.

The Melting Pot

Andy and I had a great time on our date last night! The Melting Pot was a fun restaurant to try. It seems a little out of place in it's location, with the stores around it but whatever. You walk in and forget what it looked like walking in! The inside feels fancy and for what you pay it should look the part. The decor is really nice- greys and blacks- looks upscale. We were impressed. Every table has it's own heating element (or 2) for the fondue pots. With it just being the two of us and me not having a whole lot of room in my belly we didn't get dessert. But we seriously plan to go back JUST for dessert sometime so we can really appreciate the chocolate fondue! Any one want to join us? It would be fun to go with a group for dessert. Just think, dipping brownie bites, cheesecake, fruit, rice krispie treats, marshmallows...in melted chocolate. ANYWAY! We decided on the 3 course meal for 2 (instead of the 4 courses). We got to choose a cheese fondue, salad, and our meat selection. We chose the Carribean Cheese fondue (I think that is what it was called). It had two types of cheese, some type of red pepper, garlic, scallions, and a few other ingredients in it. They bring out all the ingredients and make it there in your fondue pot. Pretty cool! We dipped raw carrots/celery/cauliflower, bread, and granny smith apples into the cheese fondue. It was yummy. Then they brought our our salads. Andy had a Ceaser salad which he really enjoyed and I had a California salad (gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, raspberry vinagrette). Again, yummy! Last came our cooking pot. You choose what you want to cook your meat in. There are 4 choices. We chose a vegetable broth which we liked. Our meat included shrimp, salmon, chicken, teriyaki steak, and plain steak. They also bring broccoli, new potatoes, and mushrooms. Then there were 6 sauces to dip your meat in after cooking it. This part was fun- we each cooked 2 things at a time and tried the different sauces. It was good. We were stuffed! We didn't eat any of the mushrooms but we ate everything else. Our favorite was the shrimp. They have a great cocktail sauce. It was a very fun experience. Definitely not a place you could go to very often because of $$ but it was fun! We do plan to return for chocolate fondue sometime in the near future but it will probably be a long time before we have dinner there again. They told us it would take about 2 hours for dinner and they were right. It went fast though because we were having so much fun!
