One of my favorite annual events at our church is the fall Harvest Party. The boys love it too. It starts with a chili dinner, hot dogs and dessert. I entered for my first time in the chili contest with Pioneer Woman's Chili. I didn't win and was totally okay with that. It was my first food contest to ever enter! I also made a pumpkin dessert. Then we go outside and the kids trunk or treat - getting candy from decorated trunks. There are crafts for kids, a hay ride, and pumpkin bowling. It's always fun! This will double as our Halloween trick or treat pictures! We took the kids around our two courts and to about 5 houses on my grandparents street. They all had a good time. I couldn't get Ty to put on a costume at the Harvest Party but I finally convinced him to wear one to trick or treat!

Trunk or Treat

Blogger Doesn't do well with math.
So apparently I was a little ahead of the game. When I logged into blogger it said 500th post but my dear, sweet husband added up the posts from each year and informed me that I was NOT to 500 yet. :) So I think this is 498 or something. Almost there!
We've had a great weekend! Friday night Andy made homemade pizza- yum! We hung out around the house and after the boys went to bed watched The Holiday. Saturday I did some cleaning - I forgot to tell you I got a new vacuum! I now have the best vacuum I've ever owned. It works SO well. You wouldn't believe the amount of dirt and dust it gets each week. Crazy! I got it on Black Friday at Kohl'*s. For a really great deal. My dad let me spend part of our christmas money premature-ly since it was such a good deal. I have used it 3-4 times since just because I like it so much. Don't worry, that will wear off I'm sure! Every time I vacuum I show Andy the dirt inside and we're both amazed.
Back to Saturday...in addition to some cleaning we had the church christmas pageant rehearsal Saturday morning, then I ran some errands and did some Christmas shopping. I made pepperoni rolls and potato/broccoli/cheddar soup for dinner. Once the boys were in bed I wrapped presents while we watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Not my favorite but it was still fun to watch! Tonight is the annual variety show and christmas pageant followed by the youth coffee house. Looking forward to the variety show acts!

Nope, it's NOT all about me!
Andy and I love our church. Why, you might ask? Well for starters it has an awesome praise band with guitars, drums, piano etc. Good music is crucial for me! Andy and I have both been at the church for a long time (since 5th grade for me). But most importantly, our Pastor leads us to focus on others. In our world today it is "all about me". Today in the sermon a video was shown called Me Church. It was hilarious! You can watch a preview of it here. It's nice to be reminded to be other minded in a world that is so self absorbed. Because it IS easy to start thinking that life is all about me. The world puts that idea in our face all the time. Last summer I read a great book that Andy had read for work or school. It is called Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box by The Arbinger Institute. It really got me thinking and I underlined tons of good points. It's a good and easy read, I recommend it! Anyway, it is about being other minded as well.
I was just reading this once before I posted and paused at my sentence "good music is crucial for me!" - does that negate the rest of my post?!!
