24 hours from HELL

Well...the stomach virus didn't stop with Wilson. Oh, no...Luke threw up at 6:15 Sunday night. Andy threw up around 9:30, and Tyler threw up sometime in the middle of the night. I thought he might and I thought he would cry for me if he did but...I didn't know until I went in the next morning. Andy, Luke and I didn't get much sleep Sunday night. I just slept in Luke's room so I could help him. I think I was spared just enough to not be puking but I had body aches like the flu. I didn't eat anything until 1 or 2 because I was afraid that if I ate, I would start throwing up. I felt horrible but was better off than Andy so I met the basic needs for our children! They were fed and they were bathed*. Sheets were changed. Other than that the house looked like a tornado hit. It was ROUGH. Andy definitely took it the hardest. It's taken him 2 days and counting. He's still not back to his regular self but he is eating today. He has slept a lot and has consumed a lot of gatorade. I stayed home today to take care of Luke and Tyler so Andy could try and recuperate. I did LOTS of laundry, cleaned up the kitchen, and put away toys. Thankfully all of the rest of us felt normal today. Really hoping Andy is well tomorrow!

*One bath resulted in me fishing poop out of the tub with a disposable cup. NASTY. I think that is the 2nd time ever in my parenting years that someone has pooped in the tub. So then I got to clean the tub before finishing bath time...!!

"Vocal Rest"

So yesterday I went to the doctor. Diagnosed with bronchitis and laryngitis. My doc thinks it's viral at this point but gave me a prescription just in case it gets worse. If it does, I'm supposed to get the prescription filled. I don't feel bad but I can't talk. She said I need vocal rest- no talking. So I did well yesterday not talking. Got a lot done as a matter of fact! Emptied kitchen pantry. Cleaned all shelves and the walls. Put contents back in very organized! I even got to use my new label maker for a few things. I washed the trashcan and the lid to Lottie's food container. Very clean in there now! Then I entered about 25 accessory/equipment things into the computer to make my consignment sale tags. I got them in baggies and ready to go. Still need to tackle the clothes and toys. In the afternoon I cleaned out the hall closet and packed up some of our games so it wouldn't be so full. I reorganized the hanging shoe organizer that is on the door. I use that for hats, gloves, scarves, umbrellas, etc. It looks very nice too! We are trying to pack away some of our stuff so when we put our house on the market it isn't crammed full of all our stuff. So I've been bring boxes home from school. Anyway, back to today...
I went to school today so I don't have any more days without pay. Thankfully I have a student teacher. She did a lot of the talking. Carrie and Brenda covered for me as well. I was useless there but did help with behavior monitoring a lot. I got several things done this morning but still felt stupid being there and not being able to talk. Hoping my voice is back tomorrow. I'm staying home from small group tonight so that I don't talk!

I'm Sick

Sunday night I wasn't feeling super- had some drainage and could tell I was fighting something off. Monday went to school and over the course of the day I lost my voice. Last night I cancelled on a meeting I was supposed to attend and did minimal talking at home to try and be able to go to work today. I used up every sick day I had for my 8 week maternity leave from Ty's birth. So this morning I was drinking my coffee and trying to wake up to start getting ready. You know how when you are sick like this it is always worse in the mornings. Kept thinking I'd clear up a little but nope. Even more of "no voice" if that is possible. So I had to call in sick. Which isn't good because being out of sick days means I'm taking a day without pay. Believe me, I weighed out my decision. When you have to talk all day for your job and you have no voice, I didn't have an option. I'll be going to the dr to find out what is wrong. I tried to go back to bed but it was too close to my coffee consumption! I better have a voice tomorrow. Two days without pay ARE NOT an option!

My Little Chef

Wilson LOVES to help cook. He helps me make dinner almost every night. Tonight, we were making Maw and Paw's famous Chicken Veggie Pasta. One of my longtime favorites! Wilson peeled all of the carrots for me! He did a really great job too! He is all the time saying I can do such and such now that I am 4. He has even tried chewing gum, and didn't swallow it! After peeling the carrots he proceeded to eat many pieces of raw carrot and broccoli. He is such a good eater!
Poor Luke, he still doesn't feel good. He's had a rough day with not feeling well. He is pitiful. Still the awful cough and now a runny nose to go with it. Hang in there Lukie! This week is a 5 day week at school. Not so sure I'm going to make it!

Luke = Sick

Yesterday morning when Luke woke up Andy found a nasty surprise in the crib- throw-up. Luke was sick. He threw up one other time in the morning and just layed around all day wanting to be held. I stayed home from my small group's Christmas party and he seemed to be doing a bit better. I gave him Pedialyte and a few crackers. Things were good until about 11:30 when we heard him cry. He had thrown up in his bed again and was pitiful. I scooped him up, covering my sweatshirt in puke and held him. Got him undressed and wiped down. Then into new pj's and layed him in bed with me. He had a fever and still does this morning. We haven't thrown up yet today, he won't eat the toast or crackers I've offered but keeps saying he wants breakfast. I've given him Pedialyte and motrin since he has a fever. Hopefully he'll keep those down. Andy isn't feeling well this morning either... Not the best way to start Christmas break! I had plans! I wanted a clean house and wrapped presents and playtime with the boys! But maybe today I'll just be holding Luke which is fine, he keeps saying "snuggle" in his pitiful voice. Just pray he gets well soon. We had another Christmas party tonight and I don't want to miss two in a row. Oh well, that happens when you're a mommy. Why is it that every winter break it seems one of us is sick???
